Lingua Ignota, a mysterious constructed language created by Hildegard von Bingen in the 12th century, remains enigmatic in purpose due to the passage of time. This publication explores both the language and the extraordinary life of its author, one of the few medieval women recognized as an authority on Christian doctrine. Its design draws on themes of visions, obscurity, and aging, referencing medieval manuscripts to evoke the language’s historical and mystical origins.
